Worldwide Light Pickups

Spotted in Buenos Aires – a breed of light truck long absent in the US. Like a Brat or an El Camino.

There’s a Brat just down the road. I gawk at it.

I’m from South Africa, and here these type of pick up trucks are the ones that do all the real work. Plumbers, electricians, locksmiths etc. all use them. The huge massive SUV-esque trucks we have on our roads are all driven by trophy wives and middle to upper management. You’ve got these enormous, road-hogging, $50 000 monstrosities that could be hauling rubble or generators etc. doing nothing but the daily school run or office commute. Such a shame. Even though I come from the same stretch of society, it’s some strange kind of status symbol amongst middle aged whites that I’ve never understood.
